MUSE
After five years of gigging anywhere from their native Teignmouth, Devon to the Cavern in Exeter - Muse went from playing to old folks in quiet pubs - who really wanted to hear 60's covers - to having four record deals within two months. After playing a couple of key gigs in the States, interest began to grow in them. It reached it's peak and cheque books started flapping in the breeze when they played a showcase on the Santa Monica pier. While others dithered, Madonna's label Maverick signed them there and then. Other deals quickly followed in Germany, France and here in the UK with Mushroom records.

After putting out a couple of EP's - Muse and Muscle Museum - amongst their growing number of fans was John Leckie, famed producer of the Radiohead classic The Bends and ex-Take That-ter, Mark Owen's Green Man.

The band were featured on Steve Lamacq's Evening Session and played at Glastonbury, T-In the Park, Woodstock in the Us and Reading. Top 40 triumph followed soon after.

Following on the success of their debut album Showbiz, Muse are currently working on their second album due for a summer release. The first single Plug In Baby was the first taste of the new material - the second single Newborn is out in June a couple of weeks before the album.

THE ATARIS
The Ataris story reads like a punk-rock fairytale: teenager lives in boring midwestern
town (Indiana); spends all his time writing and recording songs in his room; goes to a
Vandals show and gives the band a tape; weeks later he gets a call from Vandals
founder/owner of Kung-Fu Records, Joe Escalante asking to do a record for his label;
moves to California and puts band together with drummer Derrick Plourde
(Ex-Lagwagon); makes record "Anywhere but here" (Produced by Vandals' guitarist
Warren Fitzgerald); gets invited to tour with some of his favorite bands (see below);
puts together solid new line-up; becomes Fat Mike's (NoFX) favorite new band, who
then releases their EP, "Look Forward to Failure" (Fat Wreck Chords), produced by
members of the Decendents; the saga continues with, "Blue Skies, Broken Hearts
... Next 12 Exits" produced by Lagwagon singer/producer, Joey Cape; Currently they
are planning a short European tour.
